# Refunds and currency

> How a refund changes a credited order, how orders in a currency other than US dollars are billed, and what is skipped rather than guessed.

Two edges of billing that a store owner should know before the first invoice: what a refund does to a credited order, and what happens when your store does not sell in US dollars.

## Refunds

When you refund part or all of an order in Shopify, the app learns of it within seconds. On **Money** the order's credited value drops by the refunded amount (a full refund takes it to zero), and the ledger shows the refund in its own column. "Revenue from those shoppers" is always net of refunds.

The charge follows the credited value at the time the meter runs. An order refunded before the daily meter is charged on the net amount. An order refunded after it was charged has already been billed at the full amount; the ledger shows the refund, and the difference is a matter for NextIntent support until the app reconciles it on its own. Ask through the app's support link with the order number.

## Currency

NextIntent charges in US dollars through Shopify, whatever currency your store sells in.

* **A store that sells in USD.** The credited value is the order total. 5% of it is the charge.
* **A store that sells in another currency.** The app uses the US dollar figure Shopify states on the order itself, and charges 5% of that. The ledger on Money still shows the order in your currency.
* **An order with no USD figure.** The app skips it rather than guess. It is recorded as "skipped, currency" and never billed. Money still shows it as credited.

A euro figure is never sent to Shopify as if it were dollars.

## Shoppers paying in another currency

A shopper paying in a currency other than your store's (through Shopify Markets) is a normal shopper for the moment and the credit. For the sentence, the app is careful: a shipping line is stated only for the zone the shopper's country is in, and a shopper paying in another currency hears nothing about shipping amounts, because the amount would be in the wrong currency.
