# NextIntent for Shopify

> NextIntent for Shopify notices the moment a shopper gets stuck in your store and says one true sentence from your own facts, once. Everyone else is left alone.

NextIntent watches how shoppers move through your store, notices the moment one of them gets stuck (on shipping, on a size, on a code that did not take), and shows that shopper one sentence taken from your store's own facts. It says it once, on the page, while they are still there. Shoppers who are doing fine never hear from it.

## What it does

A shopper adds a \$58 tee to the cart, sees "Shipping calculated at checkout", and stops. Forty-five seconds later, nothing has moved. NextIntent shows a small card at the bottom of the page: "Add the Camp Mug (\$18) and shipping is free." The shopper adds the mug, checks out, and the order shows up on your Money page with that moment beside it.

That is the whole product. Three parts make it work:

* **It reads your store.** Shipping zones, your refund policy, your active discount codes, your product prices, and the notes you add to products. Nothing is typed in by hand unless you want to. See [What it reads from your store](/shopify/getting-started/what-it-reads).
* **It reads each visit as it happens.** Where the shopper pauses, what they go back to, how long the cart has sat still. See [The moment](/shopify/how-it-works/the-moment).
* **It says one thing, or nothing.** Every sentence is checked against your facts before it is shown. No fact, no sentence. See [What it says](/shopify/how-it-works/what-it-says).

## What it never does

* **No popups for everyone.** Most visitors never see anything. Only a shopper who has stopped, and only once per visit.
* **No discounts by default.** Offers are off until you turn them on in **Settings → What it may say**. Even then, a code is only mentioned to a shopper whose own code did not work.
* **No emails, no SMS, no WhatsApp.** NextIntent speaks on the page while the shopper is there. It never contacts anyone afterwards.
* **Quiet after a purchase.** A shopper who just paid hears nothing for 24 hours. See [Quiet after purchase](/shopify/how-it-works/quiet-after-purchase).
* **It never learns who your shoppers are.** No names, no email addresses. See [Privacy and data](/shopify/privacy-and-data).
